Free Webinar – Oct 22 @ 1 pm – Human rights, dignity, and involuntary treatment: Unpacking the recent B.C. Supreme Court decision and its impacts

In July 2026, the BC Supreme Court determined that the laws that govern involuntary treatment in BC violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
In collaboration with Canadian Drug Policy Coalition (CDPC) and Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS), we will be exploring what the Court’s decision says, what it means for people with lived and living experience, and how we can build a treatment system that respects human rights and dignity.
Speakers include:
- Jo Scott, Lived Experience Expert and witness in the court case
- Nicole Luongo, Policy and Systems Change Analyst at the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition
- Mara Selanders, Director of Advocacy at Health Justice
- Kevin Love, Lawyer at the Community Legal Assistance Society and counsel in the court case
Join us on October 22nd, at 1:00pm PT to learn more.
