Computer Fundamentals: Navigating A Digital World
What is Computer Fundamentals?
Computer Fundamentals is an 11-week, online course about computers and technology. It is divided into four sections that cover topics such as: Getting Started With Computers, Digital Security (online safety and privacy), Introduction to Al, and Introduction to Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Who can participate?
This course is meant for clients with very little computer experience, for those who want to refresh and update their technology skills, or for those who might be considering a career in IT.
How will the course be presented?
The course will be presented over the Zoom Workplace video conferencing app and facilitated by lan Yuri Gardner. Zoom is available to download for free at https://www.zoom.us.
What will happen during each class?
During each class, participants will be introduced to the course content through PowerPoint presentations, lectures, videos, group activities, assignments, and assessments. Participants should also expect to actively participate in their learning experience through discussions, group work, problem-solving, and independent
Why should you take this course?
By completing this course, participants will gain an understanding of IT that will help them make more informed decisions about their use of computers, the internet, and other technologies. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and transcript.
Computer Fundamentals serves as a prerequisite for the Computer Technician Training in February 2026, a more advanced course that can prepare a client to achieve an IT technician certification.

Materials: Course outline, study guide, slides, activity sheets, certificates, and transcripts
(All materials will be provided and available for download after the class begins. Certificates and transcripts will be available to participants who have completed the course and attended the classes)
