This project is is divided into two separate classes:
- Introduction to Improvisation is geared towards beginners with no previous training
- Playback Theatre is an intermediate class for those with some previous experience of acting or improvisation
Classes are taught by Cass who has many years of experience teaching improv workshops, including at the Roundhouse Community Centre, the Royal Academy of Film and Media, and the MPA Society.
Class 1: Introduction to Improvisation
Discover the secrets of improvisation in this fun, team-oriented 9-week comedy workshop. Learn how to give and accept offers, create an environment and develop storytelling skills. Surprise yourself with your own spontaneity and lose your stage fright as we perform group improv games.
If you are not having fun you will be sent home. Just kidding! Just bring your imagination. Running shoes are recommended.

- All levels of theatre/improv experience are welcome

Class 2: Playback Theatre
Are you a compassionate person? Do you want to take part in meaningful and expressive theatre with a view to starting our own playback theatre troupe?
Join our class as we improvise each others stories using fabric, acting, music and movement in a friendly, safe and supportive environment. The final class will be a performance for family and friends.
- Open to those in Vancouver with lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges
- Participation is free
- Some experience in acting or improvisation is required
- Registration is required and space is limited
