VCH is hiring for these new worker roles across the health authority and this one might be especially of interest to people with lived and living experience of mental health issues or substance use who have experience as Peer Support Workers.
About the Role and Program
Vancouver Coastal Health is looking to hire Mental Health and Addictions Support Workers via the Health Career Access Program (HCAP). Upon completing the training opportunity, successful candidates will be eligible to work as Mental Health and Addictions Workers or Community Liaison Workers.
- Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as Mental Health and Addictions Workers for 12 months subsequent to graduating.
- Funding will consist of 100% of wages, tuition and books during the training program.
- Applicants will be assigned schools based on seat availability.
Job Summary
Within the context of a client and family-centred framework and continuum based care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker works under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another regulated healthcare professional, performs a variety of non-direct and/or non-clinical duties to support other team members and individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges and their family/caregivers, to maximize their independence
