Upcoming course/group highlights this month:

  • *NEW* Feeling Supported
    Friday, July 19, 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Online
    An interactive 2-hour peer-led workshop to cultivate feelings of compassion and support with your self and others.
    You will learn to:
    – Identify supports and supportive qualities in your life
    – Nurture feelings of comfort to feel supported and compassionate towards self and others
    – Explain why trust and comfort are important for well-being
    **Includes a guided visualization exercise aimed at recalling and internalizing the feeling of being supported.
     
  • Coping with Uncertainty
    (4 sessions) – starting Wednesday, July 3, 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Online
    Feeling stressed by the news of the day? Join others to explore strategies to help cope with uncertainty and manage stress. Led by peer facilitators and developed during the pandemic, this 4-session course looks at stress, worry and anxiety, and common thinking traps that can affect our mental wellbeing. This course also includes many additional tools.
     
  • SMART Recovery *NEW LOCATION ADDED*
    Thursdays, 4:00 – 5:00 PM, In-person at REACH Community Health Centre
    SMART Recovery (Self Management for Addiction Recovery) is a free support group open to anyone seeking science-based, self-empowered addiction recovery.
     
  • Talking With Your Doctor
    Thursday, July 11, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Online
    Monday, July 15, 1:00 – 2:30 PM, In-person at the HOpe Centre
    Get the most out of your time with your doctor!
    Peer facilitators lead this 1.5 hour interactive workshop to empower patients to be active participants in their health care. An active patient asks questions, voices concerns and has opinions about their care which they share with their doctor(s) and other healthcare professionals. Using the PACE framework, we explore common challenges with doctor-patient interactions and learn techniques on how to improve them.
     
  • Communication and Group Facilitation
    (8 sessions) – starting Wednesday, July 24, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, In-person
    Our Communication and Group Facilitation Workshop provides the basic skills necessary for group facilitation allowing interested individuals to host safe, respectful spaces for growth and mutual learning.  Participants will learn how to support others in a group setting through constructive dialogue, while developing skills in problem-solving, conflict management, and planning and decision making.

All groups and courses are free to attend. You are not required to have a referral, diagnosis, or be a member to participate; all are welcome!
