The training consists of the following three main components:
- A free 10 week in-depth Youth Peer Support Worker (YPSW) training program, delivered in two 3-hour sessions per week (Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am-12:30pm). Delivery of the training will be hybrid (in-person and virtual Zoom sessions)
- Following completion of the training, participants complete a 60 hour practicum placement working with youth within the Fraser Health region (5-10 hours per week)
- After successfully completing the training and practicum portion of the program, participants will receive their Certificate of Completion and may be offered a part-time work contract up to 100-hours with Fraser to provide Youth Peer Support services for clients who would benefit from social and emotional support from peers who understand what they’re going through!
