We are looking for a peer (person with lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues) to join the VCH Consumer Involvement and Initiatives team! This is a peer employee role with VCH; personal experience receiving services within the mental health and substance use system is a requirement.

This is an office-based position but some travel to other locations in Vancouver may be required. Our office is located at 200-520 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver BC. Business travel expenses will be reimbursed, use of a car is not required.

This position is responsible for overseeing the Vancouver Peer Led Workshops. Our work focuses on wellness and mental wellbeing.  Our programming is offered both virtually and in-person. We have an established group of facilitators who work on contract with us and our programming includes free workshops, support groups and some special events. The Coordinator handles logistics, marketing and other duties that keep the program ticking.

The ideal applicant will have experience coordinating education opportunities and events, supervising, and be familiar with our courses. Excellent technology skills are also required.  Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles is an asset.

We are very excited to be part of  a local Recovery College program. The Peer Led Workshop Coordinator is an integral part of the team. Go to Recovery College YVR for more details.

Things that will make your application stand out:

  • Include a cover letter. Tell us a bit about yourself, and what recovery means to you. Use your cover letter to highlight things that might not be apparent from your resume alone.
  • Tell us about your organization and people skills. This role is both creative and detail-oriented,  with an emphasis on people skills.
  • Tell us about your technology skills.
  • Experience as a facilitator is an asset, but not essential
  • Experience as a peer worker is also an asset. We’d love to hear about any work you have done in this area.
