CIF Project Summary
Neurodiversity in Art
Neurodiversity in Art is a series of workshops and casual hangouts that center neurodivergent experiences, foster community, and nurture art skills.
Throughout project activities we hope to:
- Create inclusive art spaces and experiences tailored for neurodivergent individuals
- Explore the realities faced by neurodivergent people, such as feeling out of place in the current art world
- Redefine neurodivergence in the art world, normalizing and centering these experiences
- Create art spaces that prioritize imagination, curiosity, and sensory needs
- Create a more inclusive and welcoming art community
Workshops: A structured art workshop held in-person and led by a member of the Neurodivergent Artist Collective who will teach a particular medium. The goal is to introduce the neurodivergent community to new ways of making art.
Hangouts: A casual hangout where a variety of art materials are provided. Attendees can use our supplies, or just hang out & work on their own artwork. The goal is to foster friendly relationships, establish regular contact, and make neurodivergent people feel more comfortable in attending our more formal workshops.
- Open to neurodivergent artists in Vancouver with lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges
- Participation is free
- Registration is required, space is limited
