MindBody Blueprint – Life’s a Drag

MindBody Blueprint – Life’s a Drag supports mental health recovery, empowerment, and community building through the creative and transformative art of drag. This project offers a joyful, creative outlet for self-expression in a non-clinical, peer-led environment.

Through a series of workshops, participants will explore identity, confidence, and healing through drag. Each workshop offers a different focus – from character creation and movement to makeup, storytelling, and confidence-building.

For many, especially peers in the 2SLGBTQI+ community, drag is more than entertainment – it’s a path to reclaim power, explore identity, and build resilience. All genders, body types, and experience levels are welcome. You don’t have to perform – just come as yourself, or someone new!

Throughout project activities we hope participants will:

  • Build confidence and identity awareness
  • Learn creative skills in makeup, costume design, storytelling, and movement
  • Develop peer connections and reduce feelings of isolation
  • Reflect on their mental health journey through a creative lens
  • Gain tools for emotional expression and community connection
  • Celebrate themselves in a safe, supportive space

Participants will also have the opportunity to showcase their new skills in a drag performance during Pride 2026.

Whether through performance, crafting, or quiet reflection, the goal is to help participants take up space, be seen, and feel proud of their journey – however they choose to express it.

MindBody Blueprint – Life’s a Drag is a community project designed by Lissa, a peer who believes in the healing power of creativity and play. She is motivated to give back to the community by creating inclusive, non-clinical spaces where people can explore self-expression, reconnect with their inner child or develop their potential selves. Her goal is to encourage building confidence in ways that feel joyful, safe, and affirming.

  • Open to those in Vancouver with lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges
  • Participation is free
  • No previous experience needed
