CALL FOR ARTISTS

Open to BC artists with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use issues.

Exhibition Title: The Many Faces of Time
Date: May 2024, World Mental Health Awareness Month
Location: Outsiders and Others’ window gallery, 938 Howe St., Vancouver, BC

Application Deadline: March 31, 2024

Many works of art capture a moment in time and hold it frozen – be it a feeling, an experience, a reflection of self or other, or a statement about society. For some works, time is conveyed through subject matter, from the depiction of a season to a vision of the future. Materials and techniques can also add an element of time to art, such the use of vintage ephemera or weathering effects.

For this exhibition, Outsiders and Others is inviting BC artists with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use issues to submit artwork that connects to the theme of The Many Faces of Time. Submissions may be as varied as the many ways time can influence a work of art.

This exhibition will be co-curated by Yuri Arajs, the Director/Curator of Outsiders and Others, and Seema Shah, an artist with lived experience of mental health issues. It is part of ‘Professional Artistic Growth Made Accessible,’ a community partnership project.

Please visit www.outsidersandothers.com/news for full details on how to submit.
