Participants who take this course will be well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. This course is certified by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and taught by Mental Health First Aid Master Facilitator, Carla Abichahine.\nLearn how to:\n\nRecognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health or substance use crisis\nHave conversations that encourage a person to talk about their mental well-being, discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental wellbeing, and reach out to these supports\nAssist in a mental health or substance-use crisis situation\nCheck in with one’s own mental well-being and take action as needed\n\nThe course is valued at over $300 per person! Take it for FREE with us!\nThis is a 2-day event:\nDate: May 14 & 15, 2026\nTime: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (both days)\nLocation:  Room 202 – 520 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4H5\nTo receive a certificate you must attend the two full days. Research suggests that understanding how anxiety works can decrease fear and increase a sense of control. DESCRIPTION:Come away from this single-session workshop with tips on how to tap into and create wellness strategies and build resilience.\nEvent Details\nPeer facilitators lead this 2-hour workshop designed to help you cultivate feelings of compassion and support with your self and others. Research suggests that increasing momentary feelings of comfort by thinking about supportive relationships can make us more trusting, compassionate, and helpful toward others in general.\nLearn how to:\n\nIdentify supports and supportive qualities in your life\nNurture feelings of comfort to feel supported and compassionate towards self and others\nExplain why trust and comfort are important for well-being\n\n**Includes a guided visualization exercise aimed at recalling and internalizing the feeling of being supported.\nCo-produced with a team of Peer Advisors and adapted from the Feeling Supported practice in the Greater Good Toolkit (A collaboration between Holstee and the Greater Good Science Center).\nTo help ensure participant safety, engagement, and group privacy, we ask that all attendees keep their cameras on during workshop sessions.
